Black Blocks or Black Box however you may know them is under attack! Authorities from the city are trying to re do the spot with intentions of it being 'skatestopped.' Black Blocks is a staple in the Atlanta skateboarding scene. This particular spot in Atlanta on the corner of Baker Street and Piedmont is known all over the world and is also the only currently legal street spot to skate within the city. I emplore you to sign the petition to keep such a monumental part of Atlanta skate history open to the skaters of Atlanta, and the world.
It only takes a minute and any support at all is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Ronald Reagan Skatepark Review
Ronald Reagan Skatepark has been under construction for the past few months and has just reopened as the newest skatepark in town. (Mountain Park 2 is close behind). I had the chance to skate there this weekend and I am thoroughly pleased. This park is fun.
The new Ronald Regan Skatepark is phenomenal. It is condensed to say the least and has sort of a diy feel to it. The new park rides really fast. There is a lot of transition here that is generally on the smaller side. The biggest quarterpipe is about 5-6 feet high. There are banks, rails, curbs, and bumps in addition to the quarterpipes. A lot of ins, a lot of outs. Skateboarders had definitely designed this park because it flows perfectly.
My first ride through it I could tell that this park was designed for speed. The set up is tight. There is not a lot of rolling room between obstacles. Meaning that if you wanna hit the gloryhole, your going to have to hit the bump beforehand. Everything is strategically placed for you to maintain your momentum.
A huge thank you to the builders of the new Ronald Regan! This park is how a skatepark should be. I can tell I am going to be coming here a lot and am going to have tons of fun learning to ride the new crete.

Jeff Grosso's Loveletters: Philosophy of Skateboarding
Self explanatory and hits the nail on the head. Interesting to hear so many perspectives:

Hats
Well, it's another Friday night. Got off work semi-early. Too tired to skate so here I am...
I look around my room for some inspiration on what to write about. I look up at the ceiling then slightly down. Hats. I see four of my hats scattered throughout my room. Bingo...
I love hats. Totally functional and cool to wear. I love wearing a hat. I wear one every day for work then come home and wear one to go out and skate as well. Hats help keep the sun out of your eyes on bright sunny days and keeps the hair out of your eyes, depending on the length of your hair. If you have a shaved head, it will keep your scalp from getting too much sun.
I never wore hats as a child, but some how got into them in my teens.
I remember in high school my friend Adam had an "A hat." After my friends and I saw him wearing one we all had to get one. These "A hats" were fitted new era Atlanta Braves hats. I picked one out somewhere, I forgot, but it was all black, solid black hat with a solid black 'A.' They came with that gold sticker on the bill. These fitted hats all had flat bills. I guess that was in at the time, still is I think.
My favorite hat is my Anti Hero hat. It is my favorite because it is totally bad ass. Anti Hero is bad ass in general and so is this hat. Although it is the third oldest hat I have in my current collection, I believe it is the most worn. The thing I really love about it is how tall it is and how it stands out. It is made for a person with a big head. This is a flat bill hat, but is an adjustable snap back. It has a simple design. The front is black and says 'Anti Hero Skateboards' in yellow letters. It is a trucker/mesh hat in the back and that part is yellow as well. The bill is big and blocks a lot of sunlight from getting into my vision. I still like to wear it every now and then.
My Route 44 hat is the oldest hat in my current collection. My good friend Sergio gave it to me a few years back. It is simple: black and white with grey writing. Very basic.
My newest hat is my Budweiser hat. I got it on sale at Target. It felt amazing when I put it on so I just had to get it. It is the cheapest hat I have ever bought, less than $10. Also the second non-skateboarding related hat I have bought (I bought a San Francisco hat when I visited San Francisco.)
My newest skateboarding hat purchase is my Our Life hat. I like it, but it fits a little weird. Not the highest quality, but is still tight.
I could keep writing but I will leave this at that. I like hats.
The end.

Stay Focused
The key to being a good skateboarder, and successful human being as well, is keeping a sharp focus on you, yourself, and who you want to be. I have reached a point in where I am over of the petty distractions that a college degree provides. I am 100% about my work and people I care about in my life. The financial repercussions that my five years at GSU will probably be felt for a while...
Being a good skateboarder is what I do for myself. I have dedicated myself to this craft and will continue to pursue it in the future. This craft is a novelty though, as being a generally happy person has taken over. I take it upon myself to be dedicated to this craft and not necessarily my friends. I wake up in the morning and feel the urge for a specific spot and go there regardless if anyone else wishes to go. This is my mission and I am going to keep it.
It feels good to learn completely unrelated, yet practical skills as well, as I have joined the workforce as a plumber.
Having this job has taken me back to my high school days as my weekdays are filled work and my weekends are free to let loose on my board. It keeps the big picture in perspective.
That is all I have worked out on this matter so far. I see more positive changes in my future. I have a feeling that all my thoughts will come to fruition as I have looked back on this past year and all the goals I have accomplished. Pursuing my dreams is the name of the game...
