I have come to the conclusion that I have stuck with skateboarding throughout the years because it is the perfect blend of creativity and athleticism. Skateboarding is a rebellious creativity competition, at least in my eyes. I was always into creating different things such as writing my own comic books, James Bond missions to play during recess, creating rpg video games on the computer, filming and editing skate videos, and even writing this blog.
I did watch tv in my youth, like cartoons and such. I read a few books. I liked magazines more. I read Boys Life before I got into Transworld and then Thrasher. In probably 6th grade I would play Tony Hawks Pro Skater 2 with my brothers and then my dad would take us to the mall to play this card game, Magi Nation. I think one of my brother's friends got us into it.
Looking back I think I was always into creating things or learning strategies to win games and such when I wasn't playing sports or camping.
What has sent me off on this mental tangent is this youtube video on Paul Joseph Watson and how he first became "woke."
I was thinking to myself I was never really woke and through further thinking I'm not really sure what the definition of this term is. To be honest I was never really interested in what other people would say but more in what I/we could create.
In high school a friend of mine posted a bulliten on myspace introducing me to zeitgeist. That may have been the first thing like that that I saw. I watched the whole thing. I was intrigued, but it was long, complicated, and wordy.
I dont think I ever took anything for face value except when I got into college and partying/doing drugs and such. My college years were the worst years of my life. I started believing what these dumb mfers were saying about me. Mainly due to the pot taking a toll on my brain.
Everything aside though, I have been a creator and am not interested in what the world is, but what it could be. All prior knowledge is bullshit. Learn to create and say fuck you to anybody that gets in your way. I'll end it here before I get too preachy. Dont forget to destroy stuff too though
